Honors Academy of Guatemala City, Guatemala seeks an after-school SAT/Advanced English instructor.
Honors Academy is an esteemed educational center providing English classes, along with Math, Korean and Mandarin courses for all levels. We primarily serve students from the American K-12 schools in Guatemala City. This full-time position seeks an instructor who is able to instruct primarily high school and middle school students preparing to take the PSAT, SAT, and TOEFL tests.
Responsibilities:
*Design and implement lesson plans for high school and middle school English classes, based on our extensive library of materials focusing on test preparation, grammar, and writing skills.
*Follow students progress through tabulation of test scores.
*Evaluate new students to assign them to levels in our existing classes.
*Help other students with homework during office hours as needed.
*Maximum of 30 teaching hours per week.
*Minimum contract period: one year beginning early August, 2011
Qualifications:
*Bachelors degree.
*We prefer applicants who have had experience with high school students. Experience with younger children a plus but not required.
*Official SAT score above 2100/2400 or 1500/1600.
*Familiarity with new (2006) SAT, PSAT, and iBT TOEFL test format and material. We give special consideration to applicants who have experience teaching test prep classes.
Benefits:
*Salary: USD1000 per month including 4 weeks' paid vacation (Holy Week, Summer break, Christmas break) during the contract period apart from all Guatemalan national holidays.
