The Instituto de Idiomas Oxford is a small language school in the beautiful San Cristobal the heart of the beautiful Chiapas.(One of the Lonely Planet’s 10 MUSTS of Mexico) and 30 minutes from Sumidero Canyon (one of the 7 wonders of nature)

We are currently looking for a manager of the school.

About us.

With some students, I.d.I.O is a relatively small institution yet is the first school in the town. It is able to offer S.E.P National Diploma to graduating students.
Classes average between 8 – 14 students and last for 1 ½ hours daily – Mon – Fri
On Saturday, students study for 5 hours from 9 – 14 hrs.
Students in a class can range from ages 10 – 45 but are generally tried to be matched with students of similar ages. We expect to have 2 classes of juniors aged 12 and under.
All of the students study The Side By Side series of books by Longman, however we’ll have the last course preparation for TOEFL by Cambridge book.
We are also currently advertising for morning business / tourism English classes.
The school has a reasonably stocked resource library with books on Pronunciation, listening, Grammar and games.
The teachers room has TV / Video facilities for lessons.
Each teacher is provided with the teachers material and audio material for their classes and each room has a CD player and there is a tv and a dvd player for teaching lessons in the school.

About the job.
Manage the school, cordinate teachers, make publicity, help teachers in teaching process (give some ideas how to teach)
help students when they are behind,
The school doesn’t offer a working visa but renewing tourist visas is easy – Guatemala is only 4 hours down the road and a 3 month extension can be got in a day. (San Cristobal can only offer 30 days)
A 12 month commitment to the position is preferred.
Oxford school pay the taxes
We pay $2800.00 pesos a month and we give a room in a shared house.

About the city.

San Cristobal, is a nice city 45 minutes from Chiapa de Corzo and 1 hour from Tuxtla Gutierrez the capital of the state, where you can spend Saturday evening and Sunday, San Cristobal, Chiapa de Corzo or Tuxtla, has different places to visit like a zoo, rivers, caves, etc. There are also cinemas in which there is always something interesting on.
Cinepolis shows all the latest Hollywood blockbusters.

For Teacher members of church of LDS there's a Temple in Tuxtla Gutierrez and there are some wards in San Cristobal and Tuxtla.

Chiapas is the poorest state in Mexico and the pay and prices are reflected accordingly.
Rent in shared accommodation can range between 500 – 1000 pesos a month, with the latter being for a fully furnished apartment in the very centre of the city.
Rent for a room with a family is around 400 / 500 pesos but these don’t usually include food or kitchen access.
A menu del dia at a central restaurant is between 35 – 60 pesos.
Taxis are 40 pesos to Tuxtla. You need to speak a little Spanish or try to learn so quickly.
