ESL Jobs World : BE AN ENGLISH TEACHER IN THAILAND (Nakhon Sawan)….SMART & SMILE is a private English language school situated in Nakhon Sawan, Thailand, about 240kms or three hours north of Bangkok. It was established in 1997, and at present has over 300 students enrolled in a variety of courses. Other than English, we also offer classes in mental arithmetic, science, art and taekwondo.

Our Philosophy : 1) All classes at SMART&SMILE are relatively small (about 4-8 students) to give maximum attention to students. 2) Teaching is done through “fun” activities and curriculum

THE INDIVIDUAL WE ARE LOOKING FOR to join our team of English teachers must be reliable, hardworking, energetic and highly motivated. We are interested in someone who enjoys teaching children.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a college / university degree/diploma, plus a TESOL/TEFL certificate. Aged 20years> and must be a native speaker of English.
Hours/week: A maximum of 25 teaching hours a week excluding preparation time (Mondays off).
Salary: 30,000? a month plus a completion bonus of 20,000? at the end of one year.
Work Permit / Visa: sponsored and arranged by the school
Holidays: 14 days annual leave + most Thai National holidays (about 13 days a calendar year).
Commencement date: mid March / mid April 2008 (2 positions)

About Nakhon Sawan
Nakhon Sawan is a small city not too far from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. It has many markets, shopping centers, movie theatres, a bowling alley, pubs/nightclubs, a discotheque and an abundance of great hawker stalls and restaurants. There are also many places to go for relaxation and recreation. The focal point in town is SAWAN PARK (“Nong Somboon”) a beautiful scenic park with a large lake in the center, basketball courts, dance aerobics, Tai-chi, folk/ballroom dancing and a 3.5km running track. The cost of living is very low in Nakhon Sawan compared with cities like Bangkok or Chiangmai. Most of your expenses would be on housing, transportation and food. Here is a sample breakdown of some of the costs.
Studio apartment: Between 1,800-3,500? for a semi-furnished apartment.
Food: A Thai meal costs between 20?-40? on average. Western food is more expensive.
Motorcycle rental: 500?-1,000? a month.
Public Transport: 9? per trip (open-air mini-bus)
